Dynamics of nonlinear quantum lattices

1D lattices characterized by a periodic distribution of vibrational modes coupled through nearest neighbors interactions can be used as a model for variety of systems including α-helix peptides. The interplay between anharmonicity, coupling to a set of optical or acoustical phonons and the exciton coupling lead to the formation of vibrational polarons. My research is focusing on the polaron and bi-polaron dynamics in 1D lattices and complex networks and the spectroscopic signature of the self-trapping mechanism.
