CPBM : Centre de Photonique pour la Biologie et les Matériaux

par Houel-Renault Ludivine - 20 juillet 2022

The Centre de Photonique pour la biologie et les matériaux (CPBM) is a fluorescence dynamics imaging technology facility open to both academic and industrial users. CPBM promotes the interaction of various scientific communities : physics, chemistry, biology, medicine ; and accelerates the transfer of technology.

The entire research activity of the center is structured around two main themes :

  • Multimodal fluorescence imaging for biological, environmental and materials applications
  • Developments in biophotonic microscopy : improvement of resolution and detection in fluorescence imaging for biomedical and neurobiological applications.

Users have access after training to :

  1. two level 2 confined cell culture laboratories, one focused on eukaryote, the other one for microorganisms.
  2. a level 1 cell culture laboratory
  3. a preparation room and a laundromat
  4. a leica SP5 confocal microscope (UV, visible and IR lasers) : mono- and two-photon confocal imaging ; FLIM, FRAP and FCS techniques
  5. a atomic force microscope (AFM) in liquid phase, coupled with TIRF imaging and electrochemical measurements
  6. a videomicroscope equipped with spectral measurement in microfluidics
  7. a Zeiss axiovert microscope allowing imaging of intracellular 2-photon fluorescence dynamics : two-photon experiments of FCS and FCCS, equipped with a Reoptical shear module
  8. an olympus IX51 epiflorescence full field inverted microscope and an olympus BX51 epiflorescence full field upright microscope
